Life returns to normal in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 27 (UNI) Life returned to normal on Wednesday after remaining affected due to strike and security measures on Tuesday, when 72nd Republic Day (RD) was celebrated in the Kashmir valley, including summer capital, Srinagar.

Security forces had removed all nakas and restrictions imposed early yesterday to prevent any attempt by militants to disturb RD celebrations.

Business and other activities resumed in the summer capital, Srinagar, including historic Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the city, where shops and business establishments remained closed yesterday though there was no call from any organisation. Barricades and other nakas put up by security forces have been removed today.

The entire civil line area was declared out of bounds for any civilian traffic movement and all roads, including Residency road, leading to S K Stadium at high security Sonawar were closed yesterday when the RD celebration was held. However, traffic was allowed on Moulana Azad road. Lal Chowk and other civil line areas again witnessed heavy rush of people.

Similar activities were also witnessed in other parts of Srinagar and elsewhere in the valley.
