5 Corporators hoist tri-color at Kashmir’s posh area of Gupkar

Srinagar, Jan 26, KNT: Five Corporators from Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) unfurled tricolor for the first time at posh Gupkar Raod here in Srinagar city.

The tri-color was hoisted near the residences of two former Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah.

Top politicians of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir including Mehbooba Mufti have their bungalows on Gupkar Road.

Eyewitnesses said that five independent Corporators assembled at Gupkar and hoisted tri-color in presence of security personnel.

All these Corporators are independent. Aquib Renzu Shah, one of the Corporators who was present on the occasion told News Agency Kashmir News Trust that besides him, there were Corporator Asif Beigh from Jogi Lankar Ward, Muhammad Saleem Bhat from Mehjoor Nagar Ward, Inayit Ahmed from Nawab Bazar Ward and Shaheena Bhat from Raj Bagh Ward who hoisted tri-color and showered flower petals on the eve of Republic Day.

Meanwhile, the newly elected Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu also unfurled the national flag and inspected the J&K police guard in the SMC complex at Karan Nagar today.

” Mayor Junaid_Mattu presided over a rousing Republic Day function held at Srinagar Municipal Corporation Head Office at Karan Nagar this morning,” tweeted Srinagar Municipal Corporation. (KNT)
