nCoV: 31 new cases in UT

Puducherry/ As many as 31 more persons were tested positive for Coronavirus in the Union Territory since the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM on Wednesday, taking the tally of active cases to 296.
No deaths were reported during the period.
According to the COVID-19 released by the health department here, of the 3,679 swab sample tests conducted on Tuesday, 31 persons tested positive for the virus.
About 24 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, two in Karaikal region and five in Mahe region.
In the last 24 hours, 32 persons were discharged and 23 of them were from Puducherry region, one from Karaikal region and eight from Mahe region.
Presently, 89 patients are being treated in Puducherry region,12 in Karaikal region, eight in Yanam region and 18 in Mahe region.
Another 169 persons tested positive for COVID and taking treatment under home isolation in Puducherry, Karaikal and Mahe regions.
So far, 38,737 persons were infected by the virus and of which 37,798 patients were treated and discharged, 643 people died and 296 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals and home isolation.
The caste fatality rate in the UT is 1.66 per cent and the recovery rate is 97.58 per cent.
