Lack of basic amenities:BJP workers, locals jointly stage protest against PHE, PDD in North Kashmir

Handwara, Jan 18, KNT: A protest was held by the workers of BJP and residents against the Power Development Department (PDP), Public Health Engineers (PHE) for failing to provide services to people in Qaziabad area of North Kashmir’s Handwara town.

The protesters blocked Baramulla-Handwara Highway and disrupted traffic for hours.

The protesters told KNT that PHE and PDD are non-serious in resolving the problems of people. “There is no electricity and no drinking water. Despite repeated efforts, no official is willing to show seriousness,” they said.

The locals from Kralgund, Humpora, Walrama, Wajihama, Hajin, Ananwan,Kachloo,Khahipora and Palpora participated in the protest that was led by some local BJP activists.

“The pesky and long power cuts are making the life miserable. Even water is not available for the people,” they said.

As the area witnessed traffic jam due to protest, officials from police and civil administration led by Tehsidar Kralgund, Syed Shahid Hussain Sheerazi, Naib Tehsildar Kralgund Bashir Ahmed Bhat and SHO Kralgund Muhammad Iqbal rushed to spot and pacified the protesters with the assurance that their grievances will be addressed without any delay.

The protesters warned of intensifying the protest in case administration fail to address their problems. (KNT)
