DC Ganderbal kick starts 32nd Road Safety month awareness rally

Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal, today flagged- off an awareness rally as a part of 32nd Road Safety month from Mini Secretariat Ganderbal in presence of SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal, ADC Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmed Baba, President Municipal Council Ganderbal and ARTO Ganderbal with an aim to sensitize people about the importance of following traffic rules to prevent road accidents in the district.

While speaking on the occasion DC said that aim of celebrating the month is to sensitize the people especially the drivers about road safety so that people drive sensibly on roads and follow traffic norms so that accidents are minimized. He also emphasized on the importance of road safety and need to disseminate the information about safety among the public and motor vehicle users especially youth.

He also appealed the people to follow traffic rules to avoid traffic mess in the district.

Pertinently to stimulate Community involvement in promoting road safety awareness and to disseminate information about traffic rules variety of programmes will be organized during the month-long program like awareness camps, medical camps for drivers, awareness rallies, Painting and slogan making competition besides, recent amendments in the Motor Vehicles Act will be highlighted through various seminars, workshops and events to promote a culture of road safety among the users.
