US troop levels in Afghan, Iraq at 2,500 each: Acting Def Secy

Washington, The US currently has not more than 2,500 soldiers each in Iraq and Afghanistan, Acting Secretary of Defence Christopher Miller confirmed on Friday.
In two official statements, Mr Miller said the troop reduction has been achieved, as per President Donald Trump’s policy.
”Today, US force levels in Afghanistan have reached 2,500. Directed by President Trump, and as I announced on November 17, this drawdown brings US forces in the country to their lowest levels since 2001,” said Mr Miller.
Regarding Iraq, he said, ”Today, the United States has reduced the force levels in Iraq to 2,500, as directed by President Trump”.
