Farmers’ protest enters Day 50, ninth round of talks on Jan 15

New Delhi, The farmers’ protest over the three farm laws entered the 50th day on Thursday, as the protesters continued their stir at various entry points of National Capital region, braving severe cold and dense fog at camping sites.

The leaders of farmers’ unions met at Singhu border under the banner of Samyukt Kisan Morcha on Thursday and decided to join the proposed meeting on Friday at Vigyan Bhawan.

Apprehension was looming over the ninth round of talk with the Government, following the recent development of setting up a four-member committee by the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

After the meeting, farmers’ leader Darshanpal Singh said that it was decided in the meeting to join the next round of talk with the Government, but in no way, ‘we will be going before the Supreme Court-appointed Committee’.

He further said the setting up of a committee a delaying tactics.

‘Athough the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha has to finalise the proposed ‘tractor rally’ on January 26, but what we can assure is that we will not be doing our rally at either Lal Quila or Rajpath or during the Republic Day Parade,’ added Dr Singh.

He further assured that the ryots or their unions will not indulge in any kind of acts, which may lead the protest to violence.

‘We will continue our protests in a peaceful manner,’ he added.
