Snowfall in Kashmir: Residential house damaged in Zoonimar Srinagar

DC says Rs 1 lakh cash assistance to be provided to family today, further assistance after proper assessment

Srinagar, Jan 05 (KNO): A residential house was on Tuesday damaged due to heavy snowfall in Zoonimar area of Srinagar, officials said.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a residential house belonging to Nazir Ahmad Bhat at Noor Nagar Zoonimar was damaged after heavy snowfall in the area.

However, no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident. Soon after the incident, the district administration including Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and concerned Tehsildar Moin Kakru visited the spot to assess the losses.

Kakru while talking to KNO said that the house has developed cracks and it is not possible to stay in the residential place anymore, thus as per the directions of Deputy Commissioner, the house will be considered as fully damaged.

“We are at the spot presently to shift the family and also provide them essentials including food,” Kakru said, adding that there was no loss of life or injury reported during the incident.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary told KNO that Rs 1 lakh cash assistance will be provided to the family today.

He added that further assistance will be decided after proper assessment—(KNO)
