Poonch police recovers arms, ammunition from LoC village

Jammu, Dec 30 : The Jammu and Kashmir police and Army have recovered arms and ammunition from Balakote sector of Mendhar in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral here on Wednesday said that two pistols, 70 pistol rounds and two grenades kept in bushes on LoC in Dabbi village of Balakote sector in Mendhar sub division were recovered by the search team.
The arms and ammunition were kept by militant handlers from Pakistan and have been recovered on the disclosure of three militant associates arrested recently, said the top cop.
He added that during questioning of arrested militant associate Yaseen Khan, some vital clues on his confession were developed, after which a team of police headed by Sub Divisional Police Officer Mendhar, Zaheer Jafri along with the Army rushed and launched an operation in the area of Dabbi and recovered a consignment of arms and ammunition kept in a polythene bag in bushes.
“Two pistols, 70 bullets and two grenades have been recovered so far and more searches are going on,” Mr Angral added.
He further said that the militant outfits were trying to target religious places of Poonch but their nefarious designs have been foiled by the Army and police.
