nCoV: India becomes second nation to cross 1 cr cases, recovery 95.46 pc

New Delhi, Dec 19 (UNI) India on Saturday clocked a fresh spike of 25,153 new nCoV cases pushing the overall case count past 1 crore mark, the Union Health Ministry update said this morning.

India is the second country with over 1 crore COVID case count after the United States of America.

Nation’s overall cases tally now stands at 1,00,04,599 , the data update said.

However, the active cases of the contagion have further witnessed a drop by 5,080 since Friday due to more recoveries than new infections in a day, and presently there are 3,08,751 active cases of the Novel Coronavirus in the country.

There were 29,885 patients who defeated the disease in the past 24 hours, taking the total recoveries so far to 95,50,712.

It is now for more than several days that the country has recorded daily spike in cases to be under 30,000.

However, 347 more lives were claimed by the highly contagious virus since the past one day , and the country’s death toll has now reached 1,45,136 , as per government data.

Talking of the tests conducted till date , 16,00,90,514 cumulative samples have been tested so far, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research.

In percentage, active cases are now 3.09 per cent, cured/discharged 95.46 per cent and the deaths 1.45 per cent of the total case count till date.
