DDC polls: 8.33 pc votes polled till 0900 hrs across J&K

Jammu, Dec 4 (UNI) The third phase of the DDC elections 2020 recorded 8.33 per cent voter turnout on Friday across different constituencies spread over different districts of Jammu and Kashmir till 0900 hours.

As per the figures given by the office of State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir Division, Kupwara has recorded voting percentage of 3.41 per cent, Bandipora 9.03 per cent, Baramulla 1.78 per cent, Ganderbal 1.33 per cent, Budgam 8.14 per cent, Pulwama 1.75 per cent, Shopian 2.74 per cent, Kulgam 10.02 per cent and Anantnag 0.45 per cent till 09:00 hours.

Similarly, in Jammu division, Kishtwar has recorded voting percentage of 11.76 per cent, Doda 9 per cent, Ramban 8.76 per cent, Reasi 14.70 per cent, Kathua 11.73 per cent, Samba 17.50 per cent, Jammu 15.22 per cent, Rajouri 15.21 per cent and Poonch 12.15 per cent till 09:00 am.

More over it was informed that the Kashmir Division recorded an overall polling percentage of 2.91 per cent while as Jammu Division recorded 13.59 per cent up to 09:00 am.

In the phase third, voting is being conducted in 33 constituencies, including 16 from Kashmir Division and 17 from Jammu Division, for which 2046 polling stations including 792 in Jammu division and 1254 in Kashmir division have been set up for the conduct of elections in a smooth manner.

As many as 305 candidates are in fray for Phase 3 of District Development Council polls.

State Election Commissioner K K Sharma had said on Thursday there are total 280 constituencies in the UT of J&K (140 in each district) out of which voting will be conducted in 33 constituencies, including 16 from Kashmir Division and 17 from Jammu Division, from 0700 hours to 1400 hours in phase III.

He further informed that there are total 305 candidates in the electoral fray including 166 from Kashmir division and 139 from Jammu division for DDC elections in Phase III. Out of 305 candidates 252 are male whereas 53 are female candidates.
