Soldiers halt traffic for half-an-hour outside Badamibagh road

Srinagar, Nov 27, KNT: Traffic came to standstill this afternoon outside army headquarters Badamibagh here in Kashmir capital Srinagar for almost half an hour after soldiers emerged on the road and laid barricades.

Eyewitnesses told news agency KNT that right from Brigadier Rajinder Singh Gate up to GB Panth Hospital, army closed the road, laid concertina wires and halted vehicular movement.

“No vehicle was allowed to move. Even ambulances were pushed back,” the eyewitnesses said.

They said that an ambulance from District Hospital Shopian (JK22A-6028) carrying a patient on way to Srinagar was also stopped and sent back.

Locals from Batwara and Shivpora were surprised over the sudden development. We don’t’ know the reason,” said a local.

The situation persisted for half an hour after that siege was lifted and traffic allowed on the road.

Srinagar based Defense Spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that everything is normal. (KNT)
