Kulgam Police arrests 08 drug peddlers; Huge cache of Contraband substance recovered

November 25: Continuing its drive against drug dealings, Police have arrested 08 drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered huge cache of contraband substance from their possession.

During intervening night of 24/25 November, officers at a check point established at Dalwach crossing Qazigund intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK17-6970 & JK02BE-6782 with eight persons on board. They have been identified as Saqib Ali Zargar resident of Ziyarat Gali Kishtwar, Waseem Mohd Trag resident of Mili Ped Kishtwar, Abdul Mujeeb Khanday resident of Saragawadi Thakrie Kishtwar, Abdul Ahad Malik and Abdul Rashid Malik both residents of Checki Badwani & Danish Fayaz Makhoomi, Tawheed Fayaz Makhdoomi, Nazir Ahmad Dar all residents of Shoda Gali Qazigund.

During checking officers were able to recover 39Kg of Charas in raw form and 70gms in solid form from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Qazigund where they remain in custody. The vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized.

Accordingly, case FIR No. 307/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police has resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
