DDC polls: Naqvi arrives in Srinagar, to address BJP workers in Kupwara

Srinagar, Nov 19 (UNI) Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi arrived in the summer capital, Srinagar on a day long visit to campaign for the BJP candidates in the run-up to upcoming District Development Council (DDC) elections, being held for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir.

Soon after arriving at Srinagar International Airport, Mr Naqvi headed to frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara, about 100 km from here in North Kashmir.

In the border district, the Union Minister is scheduled to address the BJP workers at Dak Bungalow, Kupwara. Mr Naqvi will seek votes for the party candidates in the north Kashmir.

The Union Minister was received at the airport by BJP General Secretary and in-charge JK, senior party leader Sofi Yousuf, spokesperson Altaf Thakur, Media in-charge BJP Manzoor Bhat, besides other leaders.
He is the first senior BJP leader and Union Minister to visit Kashmir valley and campaign for the party candidates who have to fight it out against candidates from Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), a combination of six different mainstream political parties, including National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
