Ganderbal police arrests bootlegger, recovers 75 bottles of illicit liquor

November 09: Police in Ganderbal arrested a bootlegger and recovered 75 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Shuhama crossing intercepted one person riding on a Scooty bearing registration No. JK-01AB-7833. He has been identified as Ali Gulzar Bhat resident of Alamgari Bazar Hawal. During search, officers were able to recovered 75 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

In this connection, a case FIR No. 228/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Ganderbal and further investigation has been initiated.

Locals have lauded the efforts of Police and appealed to continue such drives in future as well. Police has resolved to act tough against inimical elements.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.
