22 militants killed in last two weeks, operations involved least collateral damages: DGP Singh

Srinagar, 8th June, : The Director-General of Jammu and Kashmir police said that Pakistan is pushing militants to Jammu and Kashmir, however alert forces at the borders and Jammu and Kashmir Police along with CAPF having “great synergy in the hinterlands are thwarting most wicked action planned by the neighbouring country and its militant handlers.”

According to CNS, this was stated by the DGP Dilbag Singh while briefing some media persons at Police Headquarters in Jammu.

The DGP complimented the government forces for the successful operations. He said that during the last two weeks, 22 militants were killed with cooperation from the people, “The operations involved least collateral damages in most of the cases. The J&K Police, Army & CAPF is making all out efforts in providing a more peaceful atmosphere for the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Mr Singh said according to the statement.

He said that Pakistan and its militant handlers are hell-bent upon disturbing the ever improving security environment of Jammu and Kashmir by training and sending in militants by way of infiltration to J&K. He said that uniformed forces at the borders are alert and bravely foiling most of such attempts of infiltration by these militants.

Mr. Singh added that still sizeable number of militants get through the rough and tedious terrains along IB and LOC, who perpetrate acts of violence and “terror” against innocent civilians and government forces and get neutralised by the J-K Police alongwith the CAPFs in the hinterlands.

“A number of Pakistani militants active here are getting killed and leave behind unimpeachable incriminating material to show Pakistan involvement in the ongoing militancy in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

The DGP said that during the current year so far 88 militants have been killed in 35 operations, 40 militant associates who were providing a direct support system to these militants were arrested, “240 OGWs were also arrested for helping these militants by instigating law & order problems and many of them were booked under PSA,” he said.

The DGP said that Pakistan is sponsoring and financing different outfits of militants, “A large number of social media sites are being used by Pak agencies/handlers to lure the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and our Police and intelligence agencies are foiling such attempts,” Mr Singh claimed.

He said that the efforts and people’s cooperation have yielded good results in keeping youth away from violence. He said that due to the good team work by Army, CAPFs and J&K Police we have succeeded in maintaining peace & order in Jammu Kashmir and the cooperation and support from the People here is commendable.
