Officer among 3 SSB troopers, cop injured in Nowhatta grenade blast

Srinagar, April 29: Three SSB troopers including an officer and a policeman were injured after militants lobbed a grenade on a Naka party in Nowhatta area of Old City in Srinagar on Wednesday.

Reports reaching GNS said that the militants hurled the grenade on a joint Naka party of SSB and police at Nowhatta Chowk at around 9:10 pm.

An officer of the Sashastra Seema Bal told GNS that three SSB jawans of 55 bn including an officer of Inspector rank and a policeman constable Abdul Majeed (863/S) suffered minor splinter injuries in the attack.

The officer said that all the four personnel suffered injuries in their legs and as such were taken to a police hospital (at PCR) for treatment.

The injured troopers have been identified as Sub Inspector Anurag Roa, Head Constable Sananta Kumar and Constable Durgesh.

Soon after the attack, the joint team of forces launched searches in the area. (GNS)
