16 Test Positive, As Many Others Discharged

Srinagar, April 29: Sixteen more people on Wednesday tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Kashmir Valley, taking a number of the Covid-19 patients in J&K to 581.

Official sources told GNS among them, 10 were confirmed at the COVID-19 testing laboratory at Chest Disease hospital Dalgate and include nine from Anantnag district and one from Srinagar.

Six others were confirmed at Viral Diagnostic Lab of SKIMS Soura and include four from Budgam and one each from Baramulla and Kulgam districts.

Regarding 9 new cases in Anantnag, sources said six are from Kharpora Larnoo, the native village of the woman who died after giving birth to stillborn twins on Saturday and her swap sample returned positive of the virus next day.

They include four females—aged 13, 16, 40 and 43 and two men—one 26-year-old and another 65-year-old.

The three other cases from the south Kashmir district are from 3 Nowgam Shangas and include a 16-year-old girl, a 45-year-old woman and a 34-year-old male.

Regarding four cases from Budgam, sources said that they include two females—aged 26 and 46 besides as many men—aged 35 and 40 respectively from Ratsun village. All of them were contacts of a previous patient, they said.

Srinagar reported one more case—40-year-old man from Bemina who is a contact of a previous patient.

Baramulla district’s case is a 45-year-old woman from Kanibagh area, also a contact of the previous Covid-19 patient.

The case from Kulgam is a 65-year-old woman, a resident of Awoora village, also a contact of a previous diseased patient.

With these fresh cases, Bandipora now has 127 COVID-19 patients, highest in all districts, followed by Srinagar (87), Baramulla (73), Shopian (71), Anantnag (71), Kupwara (49), Jammu (26), Udhampur (20), Budgam (18), Ganderbal (15), Kulgam (7), Pulwama (5), Rajouri (4), Samba (4) while Kathua, Kishtwar, Ramban and Reasi districts have one case each.

According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 581 positive cases, 381 are Active Positive, 192 have recovered and 08 have died.

Moreover, 16 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals today which include 05 from Jammu division and 11 from Kashmir division.

The Bulletin further said that out of 18450 test results available, 17869 samples have tested as negative till April 29.

Furthermore, till date 68846 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which include 6440 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 244 in Hospital Quarantine, 381 in hospital isolation and 8663 under home surveillance. Besides, 53110 persons have completed their surveillance period. The Bulletin further said that out of 16619 test results available, 16054 samples have tested as negative till April 28.

Moreover, 12 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 01 from Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and 11 from Chest Disease Hospital, Jammu.
