Police arrests 17 persons for defying lockdown, seizes 46 vehicles

Srinagar, April 22 (GNS): Acting tough against the violators of Government prohibitory orders, Police in a series of action have arrested 17 persons and seized 46 vehicles in Sopore and Srinagar.

In Sopore, Police have arrested 10 persons and seized 39 vehicles for defying Govt orders issued u/s 144 CrPC over COVID-19 from different areas of PD Sopore.

Similarly in Srinagar, Police have arrested 7 drivers along with vehicles loaded with the excavated illegal sand in the jurisdictions of PS Rajbagh and PS Saddar from Padshaibagh and Mehjoornagar areas.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and investigations have been initiated.

Police have once again requested the general public to follow the restrictions imposed by Government in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and those who are violating the restriction orders will be dealt strictly
