Former CJI Ranjan Gogoi takes oath as RS member amid uproar by Congress

New Delhi, Mar 19 : Former chief justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi on Thursday took oath as member of the Rajya Sabha.
He was administered the oath by Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu
Several Congress members, who were against his nomination, created an uproar as Justice Gogoi was taking the oath and staged a walk-out.
The former chief justice, who headed benches that heard important and sensitive cases such as the Ayodhya land title dispute, the Rafale case, the Assam NRC issue and the Sabarimala matter, was nominated to the Upper House by the President on Monday.
