COVID-19: K’taka ban might extend by one more week, says CM

Bengaluru, Mar 18: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday hinted about possibility of extending the week long ban for another one week to curb spread of the spread of coronavirus in the State.
Talking to newsmen here, the Chief Minister said “Just had meeting with Special Committee on coronavirus and the experts are of with the opinion of extending the ban for one more week”.
“A final decision will be taken at the Cabinet meeting scheduled to be held in the afternoon,” he said.
“US President Donald Trump has banned assembly of more than 10 members at a place and a rich country like United States of America is taking such precautionary, why cannot we, he added.
Mr Yediyurappa said that it seems there is need for further strict measures to be taken to totally arrest spread of the Corona Virus. Schools and Colleges will remain closed for one more week. All examinations will stand postponed, there will be no official functions. Hotels, though remain open, more people should not assemble at a time.
In Karnataka, the deadly virus has claimed lives of two and it is spreading like a wildfire and the State Government want to be more strict in implementing the ban, hence it shall extend by one more week.
