Div Com discusses Mutton rates

Asks DCs to submit suggestions within three days to finalize the rates

SRINAGAR, MARCH 13: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad today convened a meeting to discuss mutton rates in the Valley.

During the meeting threadbare discussion was held on ways to ensure price control of Mutton across Kashmir Division.

The Divisional Commissioner directed all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to examine every parameter including transportation, remunerative prices to local sheep breeders for rearing. The renewing of old & issuance of new licenses to wholesalers and butcheries was also discussed in the backdrop of court order.

All DCs were asked to organize meetings with FCS&CA, Sheep Husbandry, Health Officers, Legal Meteorology and Food safety departments at district level immediately to discuss the parameters and send their suggestions within three days to the Divisional Commissioner’s office for further course of action so that people can purchase meat on government notified rates.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Director FCS&CA Bashir Ahmad Khan, Joint Controllers of Legal Metrology & Food Safety, Health officers, Representatives of Mutton Wholesaler & Dealer unions and other concerned officials were present in the meeting where as other Deputy Commissioners participated the meeting through video conferencing.
