With Judicial clarity, govt now hopes to move towards expeditious decision making : LG

Puducherry, Mar 12: Lt.Governor Kiran Bedi on Thursday said with the reiterated Judicial clarity, the government now hopes to move towards expeditious decision making based on laid down procedures and process to serve Puducherry to the maximum.

In a Whatsapp posting, the Lt.Governor listed all the Judicial intervention in the last two years such as capping the fee of Medical colleges, giving voting rights to the nominated members, facilitating DBT mode of transfer of funds in given schemes, selection of State Election Commissioner and assertion of the role of the Lt.Governor as a bridge between the Union territory and the Centre and also role in administration.

Ms Bedi said that she took a review of the steps being taken by the Health Department to prevent Coronavirus and added that though found to be comprehensive and well on ground, she asked them to issue a daily update news bulletin on the status and offer guidance to the general public on the precautions to be continued.
The control room number 104 could be more bilingual to respond, she added.
The Lt Governor also suggested a daily message on Doordarshan and cable TV network to keep people aware of the dos and dont’s. She said the incoming buses and cars should be checked for passengers to make a self-declaration that they have not travelled to the affected countries in the last two weeks, and if so they be quarantined.
French consulate here be co-opted for helping those coming from France as it is also on watch list along with Italy, South Korea, China, Iran and others, Ms Bedi said.

Maximum awareness for personal hygiene among general public is being messaged through all mediums, she said and sought the cooperation of the people.
