47 corporators move no-confidence-motion against deputy mayorSupport mayor Junaid Mattu

Srinagar, Dec 23 (KNS): Atleast 47 corporators of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Monday moved a no-confidence-motion against deputy mayor Sheikh Imran with Secretary Municipal Council.

Secretary Municipal Council, Srinagar, Hilal Shah told KNS that 47 corporators from Congress, Peoples Conference and independent candidates moved a no-confidence motion against the deputy mayor. However, he said, in their motion, they have supported the mayor Junaid Azim Mattu.

“The proceedings according to law will be done,” he said.

It is pertinent to mention here that rumours were agog in Kashmir from the last few weeks that the BJP was planning to move a no-confidence-motion against the mayor and deputy mayor. However, last week senior leader of BJP and incharge Kashmir Sunil Sharma said the party was in no hurry to move a no-confidence-motion against the mayor and his deputy

“We are not interested in moving no-confidence-motion against Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Mayor and his deputy. But the fact is that 30-40 corporators have approached us saying the Mayor and his deputy have not been able to deliver on ground,” Sharma had told KNS. (KNS)
