Srinagar-jammu Highway closed for day 2

About 2500 vehicles stranded 

Srinagar, Dec 13:  The Kashmir valley on Saturday remained cut to the rest of the world for the consecutive day 2nd on Saturday due fresh snow fall and slippery condition of the Road, and more than 2500 heavy vehicles are stranded on the national highway an official of traffic police told.

A Traffic police official told KNS that the National Highway was closed for vehicular traffic on Saturday due to the snowfall. He said road became slippery due to snowfall in Jawahar Tunnel area and the movement of vehicles was also suspended in Banihal-Qazigund section as well.

The officials said efforts were on to clear the snow from the highway and as soon it becomes operational, stranded vehicles on the 264-km long road will be cleared first..

The national highway and the only road connecting Ladakh to the rest of the world also remained close due to accumulation of snow

The 86 kilometres mugual road that connects Shopian, Anantnag Kishtiwar road too remained closed for the traffic on Saturday.

The Kupwara –Tangdar and Machil road closed for the traffic due to fresh snowfall on the Sandha top and around 60 vehicles are stranded in chowkibal and other places.
