Fresh batches leave for holy cave, 2.86 lakh have darshan so far

Srinagar, : Pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine was progressing smoothly as fresh batches of pilgrims on Tuesday left base camps to have darshan of the self made ice-Shivlingam in south Kashmir Himalayas.
A record 2.86 lakh pilgrims have already paid obeisance at the Amarnath holy cave shrine till this morning, which was more than the total number of yatris who underwent the pilgrimage in 2018.
Fresh batch of pilgrims, including women, sadhus, sadhvis and children left Bhagwati Najar, Jammu, base camp under unprecedented security arrangements for Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps early Tuesday morning.
Yatra from both shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalgam tracks was progressing smoothly and weather was also pleasant, a yatra official told UNI.
He said 13,377 pilgrims, including women, sadhus and sadhvis besides children had darshan of the self made Ice-Shivlingam at the cave shrine on Tuesday.
Raising religious slogans, fresh batch of pilgrims left Baltal base camp for the holy cave shrine early this morning. Pilgrims are scheduled to reach the cave shrine this afternoon after covering the entire hilly distance on foot. Pilgrims, who had darshan at the cave shrine on Sunday, have started their return journey towards Baltal base camp.
He said fresh batch of pilgrims also left Nunwan Pahalgam base camp for Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the traditional route. After night halt there, the pilgrims will leave for next halting station on foot tomorrow.
Pilgrims, who had night halt at different halting stations on the traditional track, have also started their journey towards the cave shrine early this morning.
Since this morning pilgrims, who had night halt at nearby station are reaching cave shrine to pay obeisance .
