Amit Shah to address new LS MPs on ‘How to be an effective parliamentarian’

New Delhi,: Union Home Minister and BJP chief Amit Shah will address newly elected Members of Parliament on the topic ‘How to be an effective parliamentarian’ here on Thursday as part of a mega orientation programme for the newly elected members of the 17th Lok Sabha.
Organised by the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training (BPST), Lok Sabha Secretariat, the orientation programme would get underway on Wednesday with the address by the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla; Defence Minister Rajnath Singh; Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and the Congress floor leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
Lok Sabha Secretary-General Snehlata Shrivastava will offer the Vote of Thanks, an announcement by the Lok Sabha Secretariat said.
Mr Amit Shah will address the MPs on the topic of ‘How to be an effective parliamentarian’ on Thursday and his lecture will be followed by a talk by Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on the subject ‘Parliamentary Questions and Procedural Devices to Raise Matters in the House’.
The third sitting of the orientation programme to be held on July 9 will be addressed by Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Railways and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and senior Biju Janata Dal parliamentarian Bhartruhari Mahtab will also address the MPs.
Mr Mahtab will speak on the topic ‘Parliamentary Committees (including Financial Committees)’.
On the last day on July 10, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Culture Minister Prahlad Patel, Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and BJP MP Meenakashi Lekhi from New Delhi will address the members.
Senior Lok Sabha Secretariat officials will also apprise the newly elected lawmakers on subjects such as E-Parliament-Members Portal; Salaries, Allowances, Pensions-Member Services (Housing, Transport, Medical facilities etc and Parliament Research, Library & Members’ Reference Service.
