Rain pummels Mumbai: 22 killed in wall collapse incidents

Mumbai, : At least 22 people were killed in wall collapse incidents in the financial capital in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Heavy rains have been battering the city disrupting air and rail traffic.
The Maharashtra government has declared Tuesday as a public holiday in the entertainment capital in view of the India Meteorological Department’s forecasts of heavy rains for the day in Mumbai.
People are advised to stay indoors unless there is emergency.
At least 13 people were killed and six others injured after a compound wall caved in due to heavy rain in Malad area.
In another incident, six labourers were killed after the compound wall of a college in Ambegaon area collapsed.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has condoled the deaths in the wall collapse incidents and announced Rs 5 lakh solatium to the next of kin of deceased.
