Alert issued in Jharkhand over Chamki fever

Ranchi, :  An alert has been sounded in Jharkhand over Chamki Fever (Acute Encephalitis Syndrome).
Health Secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni has directed all the medical colleges and civil surgeons to keep an eye on the spread of the disease and also take all possible steps for its control.

Mr Kulkarni said death of children continued taking place in Muzafarpur district of Bihar and so far more than 150 children have died.

He said in Jharkhand also this year test of 305 suspected patients of AES was done on RIMS, Ranchi, and MGM, Jamshedpur, out of which 11 cases of Japanese Encephalitis was detected after which the alert has been sounded.

Mr Kulkarni has directed the civil surgeons to make all possible arrangements for treatment of patients found suffering from the disease.
