Ex-MPs Hanumatha Rao, Harsha Kumar held for installing Ambedkar statue without permission

Hyderabad, :  The city police on Tuesday arrested former MPs–V Hanumantha Rao and Harsha Kumar along with Ambedkar Statue Protection Committee President Gudimalla Vinod Kumar when they attempted to install the statue of Chief Architect of Indian Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar, without obtaining permission, at Panjagutta junction here on Tuesday.
It may be noted that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had removed the statue of Ambedkar which was installed by a group of people at Punjagutta on April 14 without obtaining permission from GHMC.
The former MPs, Mr Kumar and activists came to Panjuagatta junction along with the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar and attempted to install it at the same place, However, police intervened and arrested them. They were taken to Bollaram Police station.
A mild tension prevailed at Panjagutta during the time of arrest.
