Sensex down by 244 pts

Mumbai, :  The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex on Monday slipped by 244 points at 39,207.41 in early trade as selling pressure was seen across the board.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) also dropped by 82.15 points to trade at 11,741.15.
In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index fell by 0.61 per cent and the S&P BSE SmallCap index slipped by 0.76 per cent.
The sectoral indices like Consumer Durable, FMCG, Health Care, Industrials, IT and Bankex dragged the market in early trade.
The sensex registered intra-day high and low at 39,540.42 and 39,204.90, respectively.
The NSE registered intra-day high and low at 11,844.05 and 11,737.15, respectively.
The losers were Tata Steel by 4.23 pc to Rs 480.25, VEDL by 3.15 pc to Rs 164.25, Tata Motors DVR by 2.30 pc to Rs 78.65, Axis Bank by 1.90 pc to Rs 784.95 and Tata Motors by 1.89 pc to Rs 161.
The gainers were Infosy by 0.36 pc to Rs 743.05, M & M by 0.28 pc to Rs 637.30, Asian Paints by 0.24 pc to Rs 1416.10 and Yes Bank by 0.13 pc to Rs 115.50.
