Train service remains suspended in south Kashmir for security reasons

Srinagar, : Train service remained suspended for the second day on Saturday for security reasons in south Kashmir, where two militants of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) by security forces in an encounter in Pulwama on Friday.
However, all trains between Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir will run as per schedule normally, a railway official told UNI.
He said train service between Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund and Banihal in Jammu region was suspended from 1000 hrs yesterday following an advisory received from police. He said fresh advisory was received late last night not to resume train service on this track as a precautionary measure.
Normally we are receiving heavy rush to passengers on Saturday in the afternoon when people are going to their homes to celebrate Sunday with their families. Later in the morning of Monday trains again witness rush when people are resuming their normal activities, he said.
He said railway department was acting on the advice of police since security and safety of passengers and railway property was important. In the past railway suffered losses worth crores of rupees during demonstrations in the valley.
