D-Day: 22,640 police personnel deployed in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram,:  About 22,640 police personnel have been deployed on bandobust duty in connection with the counting of votes for 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala on May 23.
The police personnel including 111 Deputy Superintendents, 395 Inspectors, 2632 Sub-Inspectors and Additional Sub- Inspectors were deployed under the direct control of District Superintendents, State DGP Loknath Behra said in release here on Tuesday.
An additional 1,344 personnel from the Central forces will also be on duty on the counting day to avert any untoward incident, the DGP said.
Informing that officials from Crime Branch and Special Branch will also be deputed for duty if required, he said elaborate security will be ensured at places that have been tagged ‘critical’ or ‘vulnerable.’
Citing emergency situations, vehicle access to remote areas is also being arranged and the District Police authorities were also given permission to hire vehicles in such areas.
