Sensex slumps by 1500.27 points in week ended May 10, 2019

Mumbai,  : Continuing its Downward streak for the third week in row the Benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange fell 1500.27 points or 3.85 percent to settle at 37,462.99 in week under Review mirroring negative global stocks on concerns that the US and China would struggle to reach an agreement NSE Nifty too fell by 433.35 points or 3.70 per cent to settle at 11,278.90.
The BSE Mid-Cap fell 393.59 points or 2.66 pc to settle at 14,389.76. The BSE Small-Cap fell 442.42 points or 3.04% to settle at 14,105.73.
Key benchmark indices dropped sharply on Monday, May 6, 2019, amid dismal global cues.BSE Sensex lost 362.92 points at 38,600.34. The Nifty too lost 114 points to settle at 11,598.25.
Domestic stocks dropped sharply on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, amid mixed global cues. BSE Sensex lost 323.71 points at 38,276.63. Nifty too lost 100.35 points at 11,497.90.
Key domestic benchmarks extended losses on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, due to selling pressure in index pivotals. BSE Sensex fell 487.50 points to settle at 37,789.13. NSE Nifty lost 138.45 points to
settle at 11,359.45.

Domestic stocks registered losses on Thursday, May 9, 2019, weighed by negative global stocks. BSE Sensex lost 230.22 points at 37,558.91. Nifty lost 57.65 points at 11,301.80.
Key indices logged modest losses in highly volatile session of trade on Friday, May 10, 2019.BSE Sensex fell 95.92 points to settle at 37,462.99. Nifty fell 22.90 points to settle at 11,278.90.
Prominent Sensex losers last week were Tata Steel by 11.01 pc, IndusInd Bank by 7.59 pc, Asian Paints by 6.73 pc, NTPC by 6.20 pc and Bajaj Finance by 6.04 pc.
Index heavyweight Reliance Industries (RIL) dropped 11.13 pc after a foreign brokerage firm reportedly downgraded the company to equal-weight, with a price target at Rs 1,349 per share.
Tata Motors fell 11.22 pc Jaguar Land Rover (UK), the company’s wholly owned subsidiary reported retail sales of 39,185 vehicles in April 2019, down 13.3 pc comparedto April 2018 HCL Technologies fell 5.04 pc after consolidated net income fell 1.7 pc to Rs 2,568 crore on 1.9 pc increase in revenue to Rs 15,990
crore in Q4 March 2019 over Q3 December 2018.
The result was announced after market hours on May 9,2019.
Vedanta fell 7.45 pc after consolidated net profit fell 46 pc to Rs 2,615 crore on 15 pc decline in net sales to Rs 23,092 crore in Q4 March 2019 over Q4 March 2018. The result was announced after market hours on May 7, 2019.
HDFC Bank fell 3.04 pc.,ICICI Bank fell 4.24 pc and Yes Bank dropped 6.61 pc.
Hindustan Unilever fell 0.34 pc. The company’s net profit rose 13.84 pc to Rs 1538 crore on 8.95 pv rise in net sales to Rs 9809 crore in Q4 March 2019 over Q4 March 2018.
Bharti Airtel fell 2.66 pc. The company’s consolidated net profit rose 29.31 pc to Rs 107.20 crore on 6.23% increase in net sales to Rs 20,602.20 crore in Q4 March 2019 over Q4 March 2018. The result
was announced after market hours on May 6, 2019.
