Former US President Obama calls SL Easter Sunday attacks – ‘an attack on humanity’

New York, Apr 22  :  Former US President Barack Obama has called the Easter Sunday attacks that rocked Sri Lanka an ‘attack on humanity.”
While expressing his grief over the loss of lives, Mr Obama said , ” On a day devoted to love, redemption, and renewal, we pray for the victims and stand with the people of Sri Lanka.”
At least 228 people, including 32 foreigners, were killed and over 450 injured in a series of blasts in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.
The explosions had led to an immediate clampdown, with the government declaring a 12-hour nationwide curfew and blocking major social media and messaging services, including Facebook and WhatsApp, to curb misinformation, according to the Sri Lankan president’s secretary Udaya Seneviratne.
