AAP leader from Punjab, Harinder Singh Khalsa joins BJP

New Delhi, Mar 28  : Aam Aadmi Party leader from Punjab, Harinder Singh Khalsa joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday at party headquarters here.
Mr Khalsa served as a Member of Parliament from Bathinda during 1996-98 as a member of the Shiromani Akali Dal.
In 2014, he joined the Aam Aadmi Party and was elected as an MP from Fatehgarh Sahib.
Retired IAS officer Darbara Singh Guru, who remained principal secretary to former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal from 2007 to 2011, is tipped to be the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate from the Fatehgarh Sahib parliamentary seat. The Akali Dal is yet to announce its seats.
The constituency is reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.
Out of total 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, Akali Dal contests on 10 and BJP on three.
Punjab will go to polls in single phase on May 19.
