Kulgam gunfight: Police identify all the 3 slain militants

Srinagar, Feb 25, : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday identified all three militants slain in a gunfight with the government forces in southern Kulgam district on Sunday.

A spokesman identified one among the trio as Raqib Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Amin Sheikh resident of Shiganpora Kulgam.

From the incriminating material recovered the site of the gunfight, the other two militants were identified as Waleed and Numan – both from Pakistan, he said.

The slain, he said, were affiliated with Jaish-e-Muhammad outfit.

“Waleed and Numan, as per police records, were the top commanders of proscribed outfit JeM who were active in southern parts of Kashmir valley,” he said.

Arms & ammunition including rifles were recovered from the site of the gunfight. “All these materials have been taken in the case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other cases,” he said.
