Pulwama, Feb 19,: To mourn the killing of three militants and a civilian, a complete shutdown was observed in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
Reports said that all business establishments, private institutions remained closed in the district while public transport also remained off the roads.
During the fierce encounter on Monday, four army personnel including a Major, a policeman, three militants and one civilian were killed and more than five forces personnel were injured including DIG south Kashmir.
Meanwhile, nine others were injured in the encounter including DIG south Kashmir range, Amit Kumar who got a superficial injury after a bullet passed his leg. The injured also included a lieutenant colonel and Brigadier Harbeer Singh. The latter was heading 12 Sector Rashtriya Rifles.
Reports said that a large number of people visited the family of slain militant Hilal Ahmed Naikoo at Pinglena and express sympathies with the bereaved family. Thousands of people participated in the last rites of the slain militant.
Witnesses added that people flocked at the encounter site and collected money for the house owners who last everything in the encounter.
