Shutdown, clashes in Nowhatta, adjacent areas over violence against Kashmiris in Jammu

Srinagar: Clashes erupted in old city parts of Srinagar amid spontaneous shutdown over attacks against Kashmiris by mobsters and arsonists in Jammu and other places.
Reports said that announcements were made from Jamia Masjid mosque asking shopkeepers to down their shutters in protest.
After the announcement, they said, youths took to streets and clashed with forces.
Clashes were going in Nowhatta, Gojwara and adjacent areas, a local said.
Clashes were also reported from Maisuma area of Srinagar. Reports said that police chased protesters to disperse them, however they reassembled and kept pelting stones on forces.
Clashes were going on when last reports came in.
