11 pilgrims die in Kishtwar road accident

Kishtwar, Aug 21: At least eleven persons were killed and another injured in a road accident at Keward area of Kishtwar on Tuesday morning when a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the track and rolled down the gorge.

Kishtwat Deputy Commissioner Angrez Singh Rana said, “Eleven people have been killed and one injured in road accident at Keward area of Padder. They were on their way to Kishtwar from Padder when the incident happened in the morning.”

SSP Rajinder Kumar Gupta said, “Only a girl survived the accident. Six males and five females were among the dead.”

   He added that all the eleven people were on a religious Yatra.

   Shortly after the accident, a massive rescue operation was launched. All the 11 bodies were retrieved in the operation. Police as well as locals were part of the rescue operation. , CNS
