Ten killed in road accident in Moradabad

Moradabad , Jan 30 (UNI) At least ten people lost their lives in a collision between a mini-bus and a truck here early Saturday morning.

According to police, the accident occurred due to dense fog on the busy Moradabad -Agra highway under Kundarki police station area.

Senior police officers have rushed to the spot.District Magistrate Rakesh Kumar has confirmed ten deaths in the accident. He said that the accident occurred at around 0810 hrs.

Around 11 people were injured in the accident and have been admitted to the hospital. The injured would be given free treatment , the DM said.

The deceased were yet to be identified.The toll is likely to increase as a couple of injured are stated to be in a critical condition, police said.

Expressing grief over the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.

He CM has also directed the officials to provide adequate medical treatment to the injured.
