Administration enforcing poll boycott, alleges Omar

Srinagar, Dec 11 (UNI) Alleging that administration in Jammu and Kashmir is taking pride in enforcing a poll boycott now, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said there was a time when government was encouraging people in elections for a respectable turnout.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the vice president of the National Conference (NC) Omar said “ There was a time when administrations in J&K took pride & satisfaction in elections that had a respectable turnout now they take pride in enforcing a poll boycott & stopping people from casting their votes. Strange are the ways of this version of Naya Kashmir”.

He was reacting to reports about thrashing of three journalists by police when they were interviewing a candidate who was prevented from casting his vote in District Development Council (DDC) elections in south Kashmir Anantnag on Thursday.

Another former CM Mehbooba had also alleged that security forces were being used to favour a particular political party in the DDC elections Kashmir valley.
