Awantipora police arrests notorious drug peddler, contraband substances and cash recovered

December 07: Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Awantipora have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substances & cash from his possession.

On a credible input, Officers at a checkpoint established near Kadlabal Pampore intercepted a notorious drug peddler identified as Firdous Ahmad Mir @Fira Codeine son of Ghulam Hassan Mir resident of Kadlabal Pampore. During search, 20 grams of Heroin like substance, 25 bottles of Codeine Phosphate and Cash of an amount of Rs. 22,000 were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Case FIR No. 98/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pampore and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
