Covid-19: 10 Pregnant Women Among Fresh Cases, Tally Jumps To 2351

9 Among Positive Samples Received From PS Magam, DPL BLa; Anantnag Becomes First District To Cross 300-Mark

Srinagar, May 30 : Ten pregnant women were among fresh COVID-19 infections reported in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, taking the overall case count to around 2350. Nine among the samples which tested positive were received from Police station Magam (8) and District Police Lines Baramulla (1), sources told GNS.

They said that 129 fresh cases were reported in J&K—77 among them from Kashmir division and 52 from Jammu division. However, they said that there could be some cases of retest.

Among the fresh cases in Valley, 48 were confirmed at diagnostic laboratories at CD hospital, 30 at army’s command hospital, nineteen at SKIMS Soura, and 10 at SKIMS hospital Bemina.

Regarding 52 cases in Jammu, they said, 14 were from Ramban, 13 from Udhampur, seven from Samba, six each from Rajouri and Kathua, three from Doda, two from Jammu and one from Reasi

Dr. Salim Khan, nodal officer for COVID-19 at the Government Medical College Srinagar, told GNS that out of 485 samples processed at Microbiology Lab at CD hospital, 48 came out to be positive—40 from Baramulla, seven from annatnag and one from Srinagar).

Among the cases, ten are pregnant women—five from Ananatnag including 34-year-old Ashmuqam, 32-year-old from Laripora Pahalgam, 25-year-old, 28-year-old and 30-year-old from Siligam, four from Baramulla— 27-year-old from Duroo, ’75-year-old’ from Watergam, 25-year-old from Rafiabad, 28-year-old from Sopore and 24-year-old from Srinagar. The others cases are Batpora Hazratbal Srinagar(1), Baramulla’s Khawajabagh (8), Watergam (9), Gantamulla Payeen (7), Dangiwacha (1), Reshipora (1), Safapora Rafiabad(1), DPL Baramulla (1), Marazgund (1), Tangmarg (1), Yemberzalwari Sopore (1) and Anantnag’s Tulhard (1) and Ashmuqam (1).

Dr Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina said that out 500 samples processed at the hospital’s diagnostic laboratory till 1700 hours today, 10 came out to be positive. All of them are from Budgam—eight from police station Magam, all men, aged 28, 31, 31, 32 36, 38, 40, 45 and two from Soibug— both women aged 35 and 37 years old respectively.

Among 52 cases reported from Jammu, 30 were confirmed at Army’s Command Hospital Udhampur. Confirming that 30 samples tested positive at the Command Hospital Udhampur, Lt Col Inam Danish Khan told GNS sixteen of them are from Ramban, 11 from Udhampur, two from Doda and one Reasi. Other cases were confirmed at other labs including private ones, sources said.

Dr. G H Yatoo, Nodal Officer Coronavirus Control Measures at SKIMS, told GNS that out of the 1071 samples processed at the viral diagnostic lab today, 19 returned positive.

Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, told GNS that among them 12 are from Srinagar, four from Kulgam and two from Kupwara and one from Baramulla.

They include samples seven samples received from airport—30-year-old man from Hajibagh Buchpora, 77-year-old woman from Peerbagh Hyderpora, 13-year-old boy from Nowshera, and two residents—71-year-old woman and 76-year-old— from New Zaina Kadal, all having history of travel to Riyadh while two others, a male from Naribal Bota Kadal Srinagar and 70-year-old man from Chechlora Magam in Baramulla, have travel history to New Delhi.

Twelve other cases include six samples received from CMO Srinagar and all from Kathidarwaza(62 and 33 years old man, four females aged 21, 26, 28 and 52—travel history to New Delhi), four from Kulgam (34-year-old man and 3 women, two of them aged 19 and 42 years) and two from Kupwara (45 and 60 years old men—travel history to Ambala).

With fresh cases, Anantnag has surpassed 300- mark and the number of COVID-19 patients in the district stand at 314 followed by Kulgam (277), Srinagar (272), Kupwara (258), Baramulla (217), Bandipora (146), Shopian (168), Jammu (130), Budgam (109), Kathua (71), Pulwama (70),Udhampur (65), Ramban (89), Samba (41), Poonch (38), Ganderbal (32), Rajouri (27), Reasi (14), Kishtwar (8) and Doda (5).

Moreover, 33 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 16 from Jammu Division and 17 from Valley.

Meanwhile, the government said till date 165225 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 36538 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 56in Hospital Quarantine, 1405 in hospital isolation and 43514 home surveillance. Besides, 83684 persons have completed their surveillance period. (GNS)
