Restrictions intensified in Red zone areas: DM Ganderbal

2 lakh masks to be distributed free of cost
GANDERBAL, APRIL 14. As prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC, Disaster Management Act and The Epidemic Disease Act are already in place across the district, District Magistrate (DM),, Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal, today reiterated that there would be no inward and outward movement of any person from the villages declared red zones and the people would stay in their homes to ensure complete lockdown as restrictions are being intensified.

The DM made these remarks while chairing the meeting of BDC chairpersons, nominated Administrators and Nodal Officers to discuss

The measure need to be taken for ensuring strict implementation of lockdown in the district which has been extend upto May 03, 2020.

Additional District Magistrate, Farooq Ahmad Baba, ACD and DPO were also present in the meeting.

To stagger the further transmission of the disease, the DM appealed residents of Ganderbal district in general and habitants of Red zone areas in particular to remain indoors and follow the government directions and health advisories.

While reviewing the steps taken for increasing the vigil in the district during lockdown, the DM directed the BDC chairpersons and BDOs to constitute local committees involving locals and NGOs who will work with already constituted Awareness Monitoring Committees to increase vigil in their respective areas so that lockdown is implemented strictly in the district.

He said the district administration has put in place a mechanism to ensure uninterrupted supplies and deliveries of essential services to the general public of the district. He said essential commodities are being home-delivered to residents as part of this mechanism.

The meeting also discussed the progress of production and distribution of masks in the light of government order for universal usage of masks. The committee constituted for the purpose informed that District Industrial Unit, KVIB, various local entrepreneurs and self-help groups (SHGs) have been roped in and the raw material is being provided to them for mass production of masks.

The meeting was informed that about two lac masks will be distributed among PHH and AAY beneficiaries free of cost in the district and distribution mechanism has also been formulated to cover entire population of the district.

The DM directed the District Level Task Force to ensure masks are stitched within the shortest possible time through mobilizing all local resources besides finalizing distribution mechanism.

While complementing the public for cooperating with the District Administration by way of implementing lockdown and maintaining social distancing norms, he urged them to strictly follow the advisories issued by the Government from time to time and ensure strict adherence to the orders as the non-compliance shall entail strict actions under the relevant laws.
