LS adjourned till 1400 hrs after paying homage to Dikshit, Ram Chandra Paswan

New Delhi, :  Lok Sabha was adjourned on Monday till 1400 hours after paying homage to the sitting member Ram Chandra Paswan and former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
As soon as the House assembled to begin day’s proceedings after the weekend break, Speaker Om Birla made obituary references in honour of two departed leaders.
While Ms Dikshit, a former Lok Sabha member and a Congress veteran, breathed her last on Saturday, the Samastipur MP belonging to LJP from Bihar, Ram Chandra Paswan died on Sunday.
In his obituary references, Speaker Mr Birla said Late Ram Chandra Paswan was a seasoned parliamentarian and was always associated with a number of parliamentary panels.
Brother of LJP chief and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan — Late Ram Chandra Paswan was elected as a fourth time member of parliament in the 17th Lok Sabha.
He died at the age of 57 on Sunday, Speaker said.
Mr Birla said Late Sheila Dikshit was a member of the eighth Lok Sabha between 1984 and 1989 from Kannauj parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
She was also a member of Delhi assembly for three terms and also Chief Minister in the national capital between 1998 and 2013 for 15 years.
Ms Dikshit also served as Governor of Kerala, he said adding the senior leader breathed her last at the age of 81 on Saturday.
“We express deep condolences at the demise of Sheila Dikshit and Ram Chandra Paswan,” Speaker said.
The members stood up in silence for a whole as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
The Speaker then adjourned the House till 1400 hours.
