Governor visits yatra base camp in Srinagar, DGP highway

Srinagar, : Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik reviewed the facilities being made available at transit camp in Srinagar for the devotees undertaking annual pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir, an official spokesman said.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh has been reviewing security arrangements for the Amarnath pilgrims, particularly on the national highway.
Spokesman said Sunday night Governor, who is also Chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) on Sunday visited the transit camp at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar to review the facilities made available for the yatra pilgrims.
Governor was accompanied by DGP Singh, Chief Executive Officer, SASB Umang Narula, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan and senior civil and police officers.
During his visit, Governor inspected the medicare arrangements, lodging, langar, power and water supply, sanitation, transportation, 24×7 control room, traffic plan, security and other essential facilities available for pilgrims in the Transit Camp.
Governor emphasised on maintaining coordination among all the departments and agencies concerned for the smooth conduct of the annual yatra and ensuring that the Yatris are provided best possible facilities.
He directed all officers to ensure that every pilgrim is provided the required guidance and assistance for completing his Yatra without facing any inconvenience.
Mr Malik interacted with pilgrims and inquired about the amenities being provided by the administration. Yatris expressed complete satisfaction over the arrangements made by the State Administration for their comfortable stay at the transit camp.
Governor also interacted with the mediapersons and reiterated that the annual pilgrimage is conducted with the support of the local people of Kashmir and praised their role in ensuring the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
Governor observed that the State Government is committed to provide quality, round the clock and hassle-free facilities to the yatris for the successful conduct of Yatra.
Meanwhile, police spokesman said security of yatra is being reviewed by DGP Mr Singh regularly. He along with other senior police officers has visited the base camps and other important points all along the National highway to discuss the required arrangements with the deployed officers at these places and brief them accordingly.
DGP alongwith IGP Kashmir S P Pani, DIG Central Kashmir V K Biridi and DIG South Atul Goel had a visit of Yatra route from Srinagar, Pantha Chowk to Marhama Sangam and inspected the security arrangements put in place for the Yatra. He inspected the access control and traffic regulation at different points.
At Sangam Mirhama, while interacting with the deployed officers and jawans DGP emphasized upon them to follow the security plans strictly and efficiently for the security of the yatris. He directed them to be extra vigilant and make use of all available resources to ensure peaceful conduct of the yatra. He also stressed for smooth regulation of traffic at different points on the national highway.
DGP had visited all important places at national highway from Srinagar to Shaitani nalla and took a detailed review of the security and traffic arrangements at these places.
Meanwhile, CEO of SASB Umang Narula reviewed the arrangements put in place at various Yatra Camps and enroute for carrying out sanitation and cleaning work. This entire campaign being implemented by the Shrine Board is in close collaboration with the Pahalgam Development Authority and the Sonamarg Development Authority in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali Khan Monday visited Baltal Base Camp along with a team of District officers where he chaired a meeting to take stock of sanitation and other arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of ongoing yatra via Baltal route.
