Justice V Ramasubramanian takes oath as Chief Justice of HP

Shimla, :  Justice V Ramasubramanian on Saturday took oath as the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court here.
Governor Acharya Dev Vrat administrated the oath to the new Chief Justice in a simple oath ceremony in the Darbarhall of Rajbhavan at 0830 hrs.
Earlier, Chief Secretary of Himachal BK Agarwal read the warrant of appointment of Justice Ramasubramanian before he took the about four minute-long oath ceremony.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, members of his Cabinet, former chief minister Virbhadra Singh and president of Congress Kuldeep Singh Rathore, Director General of Police SR Mardi attended the oath ceremony.
Cabinet member Thakur, Congress leaders and Judges of Highcourt, top officials of state government, besides other guests, greeted Justice Ramasubramanian after the oath ceremony.
Justice Ramasubramanian, after taking oath ,rushed to High court of Himachal Pradesh where he assumed charge of the Chief Justice office after taking Guard of Honour by the security jawan of the state police at 0900 hrs.
The office of chief justice was laying vacant with elevation of incumbent chief Justice Surya Kant who was elevated to Supreme court Judge recently.
Justice Ramasubramanian is the senior most judge from Madras High Court and is currently on transfer to High court of Telangana.
On May 12, the appointment notification was signed by the Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and Justice SA Bode and Justice NV Ramana– three senior member supreme court collegium.
