Train service suspended again in Kashmir for security reasons

Srinagar, :  Train service was suspended again on Monday for security reasons after resuming on Sunday after two days in the Kashmir valley, where Ansar Gazwatul chief Hind Zakir Musa was killed in an encounter by security forces in Pulwama district during over 12 hours Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) which ended early Friday.
“Train service suspended again this morning as a fresh advisory was received from authorities last night,” a senior railway official told UNI.
“Therefore, trains will not run on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region. Similarly, trains will not also chug on Srinagar-Badgam-Baramulla in north Kashmir track,” he added.
The source said that railway authorities are acting on the advice of local administration, particularly police, who are taking decision to suspend train service after keeping in view the safety and security of the passengers and railway property. In the past railway suffered huge damage when train, railway stations and lighting system were damaged during demonstrations.
People who had arrived at different railway stations, including at Banihal, were disappointed after they were informed about the suspension of the train service. They criticised the railway authorities for suspension of the trains without prior information.
Train service was suspended on Friday after the killing of Zakir Musa. It remained suspended on Saturday but was resumed on Sunday. However, there was some stone pelting incident between Srinagar and Badgam yesterday.
Trains witness heavy rush on Monday morning when people are resuming their normal activities after Sunday. Train service has become very popular in the valley since it was very cheap, safe and fast against other mode of transport.
Zakir Musa and another militant were killed in an encounter by security forces at Dadsar Tral in Pulwama.
