Rahul, Sonia, Pranab, Manmohan , Hamid Ansari pay tributes to Jawaharlal Nehru on death anny

New Delhi , : Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary party Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, former President Pranab Mukherjee, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former Vice President Shri Hamid Ansari were among those whom paid tributes to the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his 55th death Anniversary at Shanti Vana here on Monday.
Sonia, Rahul, Dr Mukherjee .Dr Singh, Dr Ansari , along with Leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and a number of MPs paid homage and floral tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his 55th death Anniversary at Shanti Vana here.
The leaders, along with large number of party workers, remembered their leader who was amongst those who were part of the freedom struggle.
Later , the Congress chief, in a tweet, expressed concern that young democratic nations such as ours degenerated into dictatorships and remembered the first PM s contribution in building a string nation with modern institutions that helped democracy s survival.
“”Many democratic nations as young as India, soon degenerated into dictatorships.
On his death anniversary, let us remember Jawaharlal Nehru Ji’s contribution in building strong, independent, modern institutions, that have helped democracy survive in India for over 70 years.” Mr Gandhi said in a tweet.
